With 20 years of experience in entertainment publicity in Europe and the US, Petra Kauraisa is a skilled communications strategist with an eye for detail. She has handled release campaigns and awards campaigns for films, as well as personal publicity and corporate entertainment in Los Angeles, London and Stockholm.

Petra handles press for films, and supervises events at the festivals in Cannes, Toronto, Berlin, Venice and Deauville. Events she has supervised include “50/50 by 2020”, the Swedish Film Institute’s successful event on gender equality in Cannes 2016, and the Swedish Grammy Awards.

Additionally, Petra has been a publicist for the Los Angeles Film Festival and Slamdance Film Festival, and she has been handling press and events for Sweden’s Way Out West festival for the five consecutive years. She’s also a consultant for Star Stable, one of the world’s biggest computer games (MMORPG) for girls, and one of Europe’s fastest growing tech companies, and she served on the selection committee for the Swedish official selection for the 2017 Oscars.

While at Karen Fried & Associates, Petra managed awards campaigns and release campaigns for Focus Features and other distributors, for films including Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere, Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Biutiful, Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock, Lisa Cholodenko’s The Kids Are All Right and Joel and Ethan Coen’s A Serious Man, as well as several international Oscar nominees. During her time at ID PR, Petra worked on teams handling corporate publicity and awards campaigns for production companies such as River Road and Atlas Entertainment, actors such as Sean Penn, Michelle Williams and Jake Gyllenhaal and directors such as Michael Mann and Julie Taymor.

Prior to relocating from Stockholm to Los Angeles, Petra worked as the head of marketing for Diesel Music, one of Sweden’s most successful indie record labels, and at Universal Music Sweden, and as an independent publicist for bands, tours and events.

Outside of entertainment publicity, Petra is a long-time activist. She’s a co-founder of Europe’s first feminist party, which holds several local seats in Sweden as well as a seat in the European Parliament, and the founder of We Do What We Can, a non-profit organization financing legal aid, medical aid, food and education to refugees in Greece.

Petra has served on the board of Sweden’s biggest shelter for survivors of domestic abuse, as a volunteer coordinator at the Obama for American’s South LA campaign office and on the board of the Swedish chapter of UN Women.

Petra is also a frequent contributor to Swedish magazines, daily papers and tv-shows, weighing in on entertainment and branding issues.

Petra Kauraisa received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Stockholm University and her Master of Communication Management from the University of Southern California.
